The Relationship God has for us ... Key to Happiness, Right?

Well, a question ...

Is a new car the key to happiness?
How about a new, more fulfilling career?
Winning the lottery?
How about a new home?
Fame? Power? Wealth?
A fat 401(k)?

We all know the answer ... "no" to all of the above. None of those things are keys to happiness or joy. Why?

Because happiness is not "out there" somewhere. Happiness is an "inside game."
Happiness is a decision, not a portfolio of pleasant or comfortable circumstances.

Too many single Christians believe that once they meet the person God has for them ... THEN they'll be ready to REALLY begin life. Well guess what? THIS IS OUR LIFE. Today. Tomorrow may never arrive. Oh, our lives may be different in a year. Or a month. Or later today. But this is my life. Right here. Right now. Today. Sure, we can change it. We can act. We can wait. But the question ought not be, "When will my life BEGIN? Rather :

What am I doing about the life God has given me this moment / this day? This day is not a second-best gift from God. He doesn't DO that.

Paul said happiness is a new car, right? No. A better job with bigger paychecks, right? No. Happiness is a choice / a decision / a determination ... He said, "I have LEARNED to be content." ( II Cor 12:10, Phil 4:11.) He wasn't waiting for circumstances to change or for some particular life situation to arrive. He made up his mind: He was going to be content ... regardless. And how could he do that? By adopting God's perspective on life today. By realizing that today is God's gift. Not a beta test version of tomorrow ... TODAY is life. The question is, "how am I choosing to live my life today?"

Have you made that decision? Have you made that choice? It's amazing how much richer life is when we choose it that way.

"We do not see things as they are. We see things as WE are."

Please do not "put life on hold." Even for the amazing relationships God has ahead for us. Being single is a (rarely welcomed) gift. Why does God have us here? His business. Ours is determining how to invest this day for eternity.

Jesus came to give us life abundant. Let's not put that life on hold ... CERTAINLY not for the relationship He has for us at some point in the future.
