Evangelism ... ( greek: "euangello", verb, ... "to good-news [a person]" )

Evangelism, it has been said, is one beggar (you or me) telling another beggar (the person we're chatting with) where to go to find (the) Bread. Evangelism is NOT:
No. Evangelism is ... pointing to Jesus. It's not pointing to us. Or another human. Or "Christianity." Or "Churchianity." HE is the reason someone would follow Him ... we're not. True, our lives ought to reflect the peace and consistency that comes with a walk with the Master, even in the midst of turmoil, but people are not going to drop their nets and follow Jesus because of us. They're going to repent and follow a new Master because of HIM, and HIS claims and HIS ability to back up those claims ... John the Baptist, we'd propose, was a "one-way sign on legs." He pointed to Jesus in everything he said and did. He talked about the coming Messiah. He pointed to Jesus when Jesus finally did appear on the scene. When John's disciples started to defect to Jesus' camp, John encouraged them to follow. Remember Andrew (Simon Peter's brother)? His only claim to fame (arguably) was inviting his brother Peter to come check out this man who looked like He might be the Messiah ... When someone asks us a question we can't answer, it's not time to panic. Instead, how about, "Good question. I don't know the answer, but here are a couple of people who might know ... let's call them :)" The reason you and I walk with Christ today is because His invitation was compelling and He is worthy. It's not because we were so impressed the person who led us (or pointed us) to Him. There are countless millions of hungry beggars out here (just like you and I were and are). And hungry folk don't have to be sold on the benefits of bread. Let's just be prepared to effectively tell others where they can go to find the Bread who ends hunger. Some "visitworthy websites" follow ...
